MORRISVILLE– The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Airport Boulevard near Interstate 40 in both directions for several nights so crews can complete final asphalt paving through the diverging diamond interchange.
The closures will take place nightly from Aug. 17-19 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Northbound traffic will detour to I-40 East, Aviation Parkway (Exit 285), I-40 West back to Airport Boulevard to continue north.
Southbound traffic will detour to I-40 West, N.C. 540 (Exit 283), use the loop ramp to I-40 East back to Airport Boulevard south.
RDU traffic should use Aviation Parkway as an alternate route.
The paving work is part of ongoing improvements to the interchange designed to improve traffic flow and safety.
Motorists should exercise caution near the work zone and plan for longer travel times.
