​SEALEVEL - The N.C. Department of Transportation will close a stretch of U.S. 70 near N.C. 12 tomorrow morning for a pipe replacement project.
Beginning at 8 a.m., maintenance crews will close U.S. 70 in both directions from Mile Marker 44 to 44.2 to replace an existing storm drain.
The road is scheduled to reopen by 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, weather permitting.
Motorists are encouraged to utilize the approximately ten-mile detour by taking N.C. 12 to Old Cedar Island Road, to U.S. 70/Shell Road.
