NCDOT to Hold Public Meeting on Improvements to Newland Road

ROPER – Members of the public are invited to attend a public comment meeting Sept. 9 on a proposed project to make safety improvements to Newland Road from A Canal Road to Shore Drive near the town of Roper in Washington County.

The drop-in meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m. inside the Washington County Middle School gym, located at 37 E. Millpond Road in Roper.

Information on display will focus on safety improvements planned for Newland Road, including widening the roadway to current N.C. Department of Transportation standards and addressing structural pavement issues.

No formal presentation will be made, but NCDOT engineers and consultants will be on hand to answer questions and receive comments on the proposed project.

The public is encouraged to submit comments at the meeting or online until Sept. 23 by emailing newlandroad@publicinput.com or by calling 512-580-8850, code 11351 to leave a voice message. People may also comment on NCDOT’s public input portal​.

All comments received will be reviewed and discussed by the project team and taken into consideration as the project develops.

NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for people who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone requiring special services should contact Jamille Robbins at 919-707-6085; or at jarobbins@ncdot.gov.
