SUMMERFIELD – The safety of a Guilford County crossroads will be improved when an all-way stop is installed this month.
State transportation crews plan to make the change at Witty Road and Scalesville Road, northeast of Summerfield, after a review of crash data. Currently, only drivers on Witty Road must stop here.
Crews plan to make this intersection into an all-way stop on the morning of Sept. 16, weather permitting. All-way stops are an efficient and quick safety improvement where they are warranted. They have been shown to reduce fatal and injury crashes by more than 75%.
While the traffic pattern is being changed, drivers should be alert for crews and proceed cautiously.
