DURHAM – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close a section of Alston Avenue Friday night to complete median barrier wall work underneath the Pettigrew Street and CSX/NS bridges.
Alston Avenue, between Gann Street and Main Street, will close at 7 p.m. and reopen the next morning at 6 a.m., weather permitting.
Southbound traffic on N.C. 55 will detour to Main Street, Fayetteville Street onto N.C. 147 (Durham Freeway) SB.
Northbound traffic on N.C. 55 will detour to N.C. 147 (Durham Freeway) NB, Fayetteville Street to Main Street.
Drivers should be aware of posted signs and use extra caution in the work zone.
