Improvements Coming to N.C. 109/I-40 Interchange in Forsyth County

FORSYTH – A Winston-Salem roadway will soon be improved thanks to a recently awarded contract by the N.C. Department of Transportation.

The project, located on Interstate 40 at the N.C. 109 interchange, will convert the half-diamond interchange at Thomasville Road to a full-diamond interchange. The existing connector roads and the half-diamond interchange at Clemmonsville Road will be removed, and a new roundabout will be added at the intersection of Thomasville and Clemmonsville Road.

Blythe Construction Inc. was awarded the nearly $39 million contract.

Crews can begin work in December, and the work will be substantially complete by the summer of 2029.

More details about traffic impacts will be released closer to the start of construction and available at DriveNC.gov.
