ROCKY MOUNT – A N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in Durham will close at 5 p.m. on Sept. 26 after the current operator announced his intention to close the office and move to a new location.
The current agency, at 5410 N.C. Hwy. 55, Suite AB, at the Greenwood Commons Shopping Center, in Durham, has been owned by Triangle Management Agency, Inc. and operated by Chris Wilson since 2015. A new location for the agency will open on a later date.
In the meantime, four nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except for state holidays:
• Durham, 4215 University Dr., Suite 8 (Parkway Plaza)
• Carrboro, 104 N.C. Hwy. 54 W., Suite D (Carrboro Plaza)
• Cary, 1251 Buck Jones Rd. (South Hills)
• Raleigh, 2533 Atlantic Ave., Suite 102
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 131 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
