DURHAM – Contract crews for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close Chapel Hill Road near Morehead Avenue in both directions to replace a stormwater pipe underneath the roadway.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Sept. 29, unless rainy weather next week requires the crews to reschedule this closure. If it closes Monday, it will reopen by the evening of Oct. 10. Work will take place continuously until the project is complete.
Southbound traffic from Chapel Hill Road and Morehead Avenue will use Rosedale Avenue, Lakewood Avenue, Chapel Hill Road to return to the regular route.
Northbound Chapel Hill Road traffic will use Lakewood Avenue, Rosedale Avenue, Morehead Avenue to return to the regular route.
Drivers should be mindful of posted signs and use extra caution in the work zone.
