GARNER – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close a section of Benson Road (N.C. 50) and U.S. 70 to erect bridge girders on the new bridge over U.S. 70.
Work is scheduled nightly from Oct. 20-25, beginning at 10 p.m. and reopening each morning at 6 a.m., weather permitting.
Eastbound U.S. 70 traffic will detour up and over the ramp to continue east, while westbound traffic will use New Rand Road, Garner Road and Vandora Springs Road to reach the U.S. 70 West on-ramp.
Northbound Benson Road traffic will detour to U.S. 70 and New Rand Road, while southbound Benson Road traffic will use Garner Road to Vandora Springs Road to access U.S. 70 East.
Drivers should be mindful of posted signs and use extra caution in this work zone.
