ATKINSON – A Pender County road is closed for several weeks for a pipe replacement.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation has temporarily closed both directions of Slocum Trail from Point Caswell Road to N.C. 53 to replace a crossline pipe.
The work will improve drainage in the area and replace the deteriorated structure. This section of Slocum Trail is expected to reopen Nov. 14.
Motorists should use caution when traveling near the area and seek alternate routes to avoid delays.
