GREENSBORO – The N.C. Department of Transportation will conduct nighttime ramp and lane closures in both directions of Interstate 40 in Greensboro starting tonight, weather permitting, as part of a guardrail installation project.
The U.S. 220 North ramp to I-40 East (Exit 81) and the I-40 East ramp to U.S. 29 South (Exit 219) are set to close Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. and scheduled to reopen the following morning by 6 a.m.
Additionally, the left lane of I-40 West at mile marker 219 is set to close Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. and reopen the following morning by 6 a.m.
Traffic will be directed to use the following detours:
- U.S. 220 North Exit 81 Detour: Fork left onto I-40 West, take Exit 217, turn left on Gate City Boulevard, then right onto the I-40 East ramp.
- I-40 East Exit 219 Detour: Continue on I-40 East to Exit 221, turn right on South Elm-Eugene, then take another right on I-85 South, which merges into U.S. 29 South.
Drivers should use caution when traveling through the detours and be alert to construction crews working in the area.
