GREENSBORO – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation is set to close a section of U.S. 29 in both directions for two nights this week, weather permitting.
U.S. 29 is set to close between U.S. 220 and Randleman Road nightly from Oct. 22 through Oct. 24, starting at 8 p.m. and reopening at 6 a.m. each day. The closure is necessary for crews to conduct road construction.
Drivers wishing to access U.S. 220 South from I-40 West will use the following detour route:
- Head west on I-40
- Use the right two lanes to stay on I-40 West/U.S. 220 South
- Take Exit 218A for U.S. 220 South
Drivers wishing to access I-40 East from U.S. 29 North will use the following detour route:
- Take Exit 35B for U.S. 220 North
- Take Exit 81 to access I-40 East/U.S. 220 North
Drivers on Rehobeth Church Road should use West Vandalia and Creek Ridge roads to access U.S. 220 and destinations on either side of the closure.
Motorists should allow extra time for travel and use caution near the work zone.
