SANFORD – Broadway Road near N.C. 42 is scheduled to close to through traffic this weekend to replace a crossline pipe to improve drainage.
While Broadway Road is closed from 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, residents will have access to their driveways, but through traffic will need to use the following signed detour: Avent's Ferry (N.C. 42), Longstreet Road and Woodland Trails Road.
People traveling from Sanford to Buchanan's Farm this weekend will need to use the detour as well, but those going to the farm from Broadway may continue on N.C. 42.
The new culvert is a part of the ongoing widening of N.C. 42 between Sanford and Broadway. The closure is being scheduled over a weekend to minimize the work and school commute for the area.
The N.C. 42 construction project began in the fall of 2023 and is scheduled to be completed by spring of 2028.
