HIGH POINT – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation began nighttime closures of a lane and on-ramp of Interstate 85 in High Point on Nov. 3.
Through Jan. 29, crews will close the right lane of I-85 South for one mile near Liberty Road as well as the on-ramp onto I-85 South from the service road coming from I-74 East to allow for bridge rehabilitation.
Work will occur Monday through Thursday nights, beginning at 8 p.m. and finishing at 7 a.m. the following morning. All lanes and the on-ramp will remain open during the day and on weekends.
Motorists traveling on I-74 East who wish to take I-85 South should use Exit 75, then Exit 113A, continue straight across Liberty Road and follow the ramp onto I-85 South.
Drivers should use caution when traveling through the detour and be alert to construction crews working in the area.
