GREENVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin strengthening and resurfacing operations on several roads in Pitt County beginning tomorrow.
Crews with Fred Smith Co. will move between Portertown Road, L.T. Hardee Road, and Eastern Pines Road to perform the work. After the asphalt strengthening is complete, a separate crew will follow to restore and stabilize the road shoulders before applying the final layer of surface pavement.
To safely complete the work, lane closures will be in place with a pilot vehicle guiding traffic through the work zones.
Motorists are advised to slow down, remain alert, and follow posted signage when traveling through these areas. Delays are expected, and drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly.
This operation is anticipated to take approximately one month to complete, weather permitting.
