HENDERSONVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will implement various lane closures on Interstate 26 near the Green River Bridge in Henderson County next week.
Crews from Flatiron Constructors will be leveling, milling and paving, and removing safety wall in order to place traffic in the final alignment prior to the onset of winter conditions. Daytime operations in the workzone near mile marker 55 will revolve around paving, and nighttime operations will center around removing the barrier wall.
The eastbound lane closures will be implemented from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., and westbound lane closures will be utilized from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. The lane closure schedule is as follows:
- Nov. 10 Night: Westbound lane closure
- Nov. 11 Day: Eastbound lane closure
Nov. 11 Night: Westbound lane closure - Nov. 12 Day: Westbound lane closure
Nov. 12 Night: Eastbound lane closure
- Nov. 13 Day: Westbound lane closure
Nov. 13 Night: Eastbound lane closure
These operations are part of a $26.9 million project to replace the deck of the Peter Guice Memorial Bridge. NCDOT anticipates additional lane closures the following week to complete operations.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead for potential delays, slow down in workzones and obey all posted traffic signs.
