WALLACE – A section of Powers Road near the Wallace-Pender Airport in Pender County will temporarily close for construction beginning next week.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a section of Powers Road from Willard Road to the intersection of Wallace Airport Road and Old Mill Road beginning Nov. 10.
Contract crews will construct the tie in for the relocated Wallace Airport Road to Powers Road. A signed detour will be available via Willard Road and Wallace Airport Road. Local traffic may access Powers Road from Willard Road.
An additional signed detour will be in place beginning Dec. 8, while crews construct the tie in for the newly relocated Wallace Airport Road to the existing Wallace Airport Road.
Powers Road and the newly relocated Wallace Airport Road are expected to open to traffic on Dec. 15. This work is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.
Motorists should use caution when traveling near the work zone and follow all posted signage.
