BLOUNTS CREEK – The N.C. Department of Transportation will replace a Beaufort County bridge thanks to a recently awarded contract.
The 35-year-old bridge over Blounts Creek, which feeds into the Pamlico River, on Mouth of the Creek Road will be replaced on new location, just south of the existing bridge.
This two-lane bridge provides access to the neighborhoods east and west of Blounts Creek, which rely on this bridge to access N.C. 33.
NCDOT awarded the $11 million contract to Sanford Contractors Inc., which can begin construction as early as Dec. 1. Drivers will continue to use the current bridge while the new one is under construction. The project is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2028.
