TARBORO – The N.C. Department of Transportation is inviting the public to comment on its proposal to improve nearly a mile of U.S. 258 near U.S. 64.
The project proposes to add travel lanes and a raised median along U.S. 258 near its interchange with U.S. 64 in Tarboro. The proposal also includes replacing the U.S. 258 overpass over U.S. 64. The intersection of U.S. 258 at Colonial Road farther south also would be improved.
The project has an estimated total cost of $64.1 million and is scheduled for construction to begin in late 2032.
The department will hold an open house from 5 -7 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Edgecombe County Administration Building, 201 Saint Andrew St. People may drop in at any time to see design maps and talk to the project team.
The department is accepting comments through Dec. 19 on the proposed design.
