MOORESVILLE – Part of an Iredell County road will close for several months while a developer implements improvements required by the N.C. Department of Transportation.
NCDOT is requiring MI Homes, of Charlotte, to realign the intersection of Rinehardt Road and N.C. 150 to mitigate increased traffic from an upcoming housing development currently under construction.
The new alignment involves building an extension road that will meet N.C. 150 at a 90-degree angle, improving safety and sight distance for drivers.
To finish the road, the developer must close Rinehardt Road beginning Monday between Lansing Circle and N.C. 150 to lower the grade of the existing road to meet the extension road.
A signed detour will guide drivers around the closure using N.C. 115.
The road is expected to reopen in early spring.
