ALBEMARLE – Drivers will soon have a smoother ride on a section of U.S. 52, two sections of N.C. 740 and six secondary routes in Stanly County thanks to a $3.3 million N.C. Department of Transportation resurfacing contract earned by contractor J.T. Russell and Sons Inc.
The contract totals just over 12 miles of improvements to sections of the following roads:
- U.S. 52 from north of Finch Road to Lavasque Street
- N.C. 740 from the Northeast Connector to Catalina Drive and back to the N.C. 740 bypass
- Big Lick Road
- Elm Street
- Northeast Connector
- Stony Gap Road
- Allenton Street
- Cottonville Road
The contractor can start work as early as mid-December and complete the contract by spring 2027.
