ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is releasing highway work zone driver training courses, as required by Session Law 2024-30, ahead of its Dec. 1 deadline. The courses are for both teen and adult drivers with in-person and virtual options.
The law requires the N.C. Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to add the training course to the under-18 driver education curriculum at both public-school programs and private driver education schools. Only students who begin driver education classes on or after Dec. 1 are required to complete the highway work zone driver training course.
The virtual course for teens and adults can be found at WorkZoneSafe.com.
NCDMV will be offering the in-person course as part of its eight-hour defensive driving course. The cost for the in-person course is $83.50. Those interested can reach out to the division at schoolbustrafficsafety@ncdot.gov for more info and to register.
