ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in Rocky Mount will close at 5 p.m. today after the current operator announced her retirement.
The current agency, at 1850 Stone Rose Dr., in Rocky Mount, has been owned by Rocky Mount, LLC, and operated by Vicki Bridgers since 1981. A new agency will open on a later date at a new location.
In the meantime, three nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday except for state holidays:
• Tarboro, 201 Saint Andrew St. (Edgecombe Co. Admin. Bldg.) 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Spring Hope, 123 S. Ash. St. 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
• Wilson, 4000 Ward Blvd., Suite D (Toisnot Village Shopping Center) 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 131 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.
