EDEN – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will extend its closure of Church Street in Eden to replace an underground culvert.
On Sept. 8, crews from Atlantic Contracting Company Inc. closed both directions of Church Street at the intersection with Park Road.
The road was originally scheduled to reopen on Nov. 30, but due to complications involving existing utilities and upcoming winter weather, the road is now anticipated to reopen by early spring 2026.
Drivers are encouraged to check DriveNC.gov for updates and utilize the traffic circle, Boone Road, North Bridge Street/Old N.C. 87 and South Hamilton Street as the detour.
