Governor's Awards
This month, five NCDOT employees received the Governor's Award for Excellence in Safety and Heroism for their actions during Hurricane Helene.
When rising floodwaters caused parts of Interstate 40 to collapse, they quickly guided stranded motorists away from danger.
Thanks to their swift coordination and bravery, everyone made it safely off the roadway.
