RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to close multiple ramps along Interstate 440 East this weekend, weather permitting, to establish new collector lanes as part of the I-440 improvements project.
The Western Boulevard on-ramp to I-440 East is set to close Friday at 9 p.m. and reopen Saturday morning. Traffic will detour to I-440 West and Melbourne Road back to I-440 East.
The I-440 East off-ramp to Hillsborough Street will close Friday at 9 p.m. and reopen Monday at 5 a.m. Friday night through Saturday, traffic will detour to Wade Avenue and back down I-440 West to Hillsborough Street. Saturday night through Monday morning, traffic will detour to Lake Boone Trail and I-440 West to return to Hillsborough Street.
I-440 East off-ramp to Wade Avenue will close Saturday at 8 p.m. and reopen Monday morning at 5. Traffic will detour to Lake Boone Trail and I-440 West to return to Wade Avenue.
The Hillsborough Street on-ramp to I-440 East and Wade Avenue will also close Saturday after 8 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers will use I-440 West to Western Boulevard, then return to I-440 East.
Drivers should expect delays and use caution while following detour signs in the area.
