Cabarrus County Bridge to be Replaced

CONCORD –  The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.4 million contract to replace the bridge on Gold Hill Road over Dutch Buffalo Creek in Concord. Albemarle contractor NJR Group Inc. earned the contract last month.

Work can start as soon as mid-December, requiring contract crews to close Gold Hill Road and detour traffic to have a safe work area. During this phase of the project, drivers will be detoured from Gold Hill Road to St. Johns Road, Mt. Olive Road and Cline School Road, returning to Gold Hill Road.

The bridge should be open to traffic by late 2026, with landscaping and vegetation work ongoing through spring 2027.
