Santa to Ride into Southport by Ferry on Friday

SOUTHPORT – Jolly old St. Nicholas will be sailing into Southport by ferry Friday afternoon, and parents are invited to bring their kids to ride along for holiday photos and fun.

Santa will be riding the 4 p.m. ferry from Southport to Fort Fisher and then the 4:45 p.m. ferry from Fort Fisher into Southport as he makes his way to Southport’s “Light Up The Night” Christmas Parade, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., in Waterfront Park, part of Southport’s Winterfest celebration.

Children who ride the ferry will have an opportunity to meet and visit with Santa during his trips between Southport and Fort Fisher. Santa will also be available for the kids after the parade at the Southport Fire Station.

Parents should note:

  • Those wishing to ride the ferry and enjoy the festivities on the Southport side should bring their vehicles on board the ferry, as they will need to drive home by road, as ferry service from Southport ends for the evening at 6:15 p.m.

  • Those wishing to return to Fort Fisher immediately can ride the ferry as pedestrians and return on the 6:15 p.m. departure. Light refreshments will be available at the Southport Terminal in the interim.
One-way fares for vehicles are $7 for a regular-sized vehicle (including passengers), and $2 for pedestrians. There is no toll for children under the age of 5.
