MOCKSVILLE – A section of Interstate 40 East is scheduled to close overnight Friday (Dec. 12) for crews to set the remaining steel girders for a new bridge.
As with the last such detour on Dec. 4, eastbound traffic again will be detoured between exits 174 (Farmington Road) and 180 (N.C. 801) from 10 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. the next day.
The detour will send eastbound drivers off I-40 at Exit 174, staying on Farmington Road to U.S. 158, then to N.C. 801 to re-access I-40 at Exit 180. During this overnight closure, the Davie County Rest Area at mile marker 177 for I-40 East will be closed.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation is replacing the bridge on Pinebrook School Road across Interstate 40.
