GREENVILLE — Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to shift traffic tonight on Memorial Drive (N.C. 11) near the 5th Street intersection as part of an ongoing bridge construction project in Pitt County.
Beginning at 11:30 p.m., traffic heading north on Memorial Drive will shift from the existing crossover detour lane on the left side of the road to the right lane that extends across the new bridge over the Tar River. The change will allow crews to remove the detour, restore shoulders and complete the project.
The lane shift is expected to remain in place until the morning of Monday, Jan. 12.
Drivers are advised to use caution, reduce speed and remain alert for construction equipment and workers in the area.
