SPARTA – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will resurface multiple roads throughout Alleghany County, including a portion of N.C. 18.
Maymead Inc., of Mountain City, Tennessee, earned the $1.5 million contract to resurface N.C. 18 between the Blue Ridge Parkway and N.C. 113.
The contract also calls for Maymead to resurface Delhart Road between N.C. 18 and the Virginia state line, and Little Pine Road between N.C. 18 and Barrett Road.
Contract crews can begin in spring 2026, with all resurfacing to be finished by spring 2027. The contract restricts lane closures during morning rush hour or holidays.
