CONCORD– Drivers will soon have a smoother ride on a section of N.C. 24/27, portions of N.C. 73 and four secondary routes in Cabarrus County thanks to a $2.9 million N.C. Department of Transportation resurfacing contract earned by contractor NJR Group Inc.
The contract, which includes milling, patching, resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction and pavement markings, totals just over 11 miles of improvements to sections of the following roads, including milling, patching, resurfacing, shoulder reconstruction and pavement markings:
• N.C. 24/27 from the Mecklenburg County line to Pioneer Mill Road
• N.C. 73 from Skyland Drive to just beyond Blueberry Street, and Dutch Road to the Stanly County line
• Sapp Road in Kannapolis
• Irish Potato Road in Concord
• Main Street in Mt. Pleasant
The contractor can start work as early as January and complete the contract by spring 2027.
