RICHFIELD – The N.C. Department of Transportation will replace the existing bridge over Riles Creek on Stokes Ferry Road, requiring a long-term road closure beginning Monday.
Stokes Ferry Road will be closed between New London Road in Rowan County and Pineview Road in Stanly County until the project is completed by late 2026.
The Royals Picnic and Fishing Access closed to the public on Dec. 7 and will reopen Oct. 30, 2026.
A signed detour will be in place.
Drivers traveling south on Stokes Ferry Road use New London Road, Willie Road, Gold Branch Road, and N.C. 49 to return to Stokes Ferry Road. The detour will operate in reverse for northbound traffic.
Motorists should allow extra time, use caution near the work zone, and follow all posted detours.
