ASHEVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will implement several ramp closures in April and May as part of ongoing construction for the Interstate 26 Connector project.
These closures are necessary to safely advance construction activities and will remain in place permanently.
Beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, the Riverside Drive entrance ramp to I-240/I-26 will close. Drivers will be directed to continue on Riverside Drive to Broadway Street to access I-26 East.
At 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, the I-240/I-26 off-ramp to Hill Street will close. Drivers should remain on I-26 to Exit 25 (Broadway Street) to access Riverside Drive and Hill Street.
Beginning early May, the Patton Avenue eastbound ramp to the Patton Avenue eastbound frontage road (Westgate Bridge) will be closed. An exact date and time for this closure, along with detour information, will be announced at a later date.
Drivers should follow posted signage and remain alert when driving in work zones.
These closures support continued progress on the I-26 Connector project, which will improve traffic flow and connectivity in western North Carolina.
