I-40 West in Davie County Requires Overnight Closures

MOCKSVILLE – A section of Interstate 40 West is scheduled to close overnight on Monday and Tuesday to allow steel girders to be set for a new bridge.

Westbound traffic will be detoured between exits 180 (N.C. 801) and 174 (Farmington Road) from 11 p.m. Monday until 6 the next morning; and again detoured from 11 p.m. Tuesday until 6 the following morning. This work is weather-permitting, and could be postponed.

The detour will send westbound drivers off I-40 at Exit 180, staying on N.C. 801 to U.S. 158 and to Farmington Road to re-access I-40 West. During these closures, the Davie County Rest Area at mile marker 177 for I-40 West will be closed between 1 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Monday and Tueseday.

A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation is replacing the bridge on Pinebrook School Road across Interstate 40.
