KERNERSVILLE – Contract crews for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close U.S. 421 Southbound for bridge repairs.
On Jan. 23 from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., crews will close U.S. 421 Southbound at the South Main Street bridge, to perform repairs to the steel bridge girders that were damaged last summer when a truck struck the girders.
Traffic will be detoured at Exit 224. Motorists will re-access U.S. 421 Southbound by crossing over South Main Street and using the southbound ramp.
Signal timings will be temporarily adjusted to accommodate increased traffic volumes on U.S. 421 Southbound.
Motorists are urged to use caution in the area and allow extra travel time.
