WILMINGTON – The N.C. Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting for the College Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway improvements project in New Hanover County on Thursday.
The proposed project converts the current intersection of College Road (U.S. 117/N.C. 132) and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway (U.S. 74) into a grade-separated intersection with a bridge or overpass and interconnecting ramps or loops, similar to an interstate interchange. This design reduces congestion and improves safety.
The public meeting is scheduled for:
Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026
5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
University of North Carolina at Wilmington
Burney Center
601 S. College Road
Wilmington, N.C. 28403
The public may attend at any time during the above hours, as no formal presentation will be made. NCDOT representatives will be available during the open house to answer questions and receive comments regarding the proposed project. Project details and maps can be found at the
NCDOT public input webpage.
The opportunity to submit written comments will be provided at the meeting or can be submitted via phone, email or at NCDOT’s public input portal by March 2, 2026.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with Disabilities Act for people who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone requiring special services should contact Aleksandra Djurkovic at 919-707-6024 or andjurkovic@ncdot.gov as early as possible.
Those who do not speak English, or have a limited ability to read, speak or understand English, may receive interpretive services upon request prior to the meeting by calling 1-800-481-6494.
