State Ferry Division to Host Beaufort County Career Fair Wednesday

BAYVIEW –  Job seekers are encouraged to attend a career fair Feb. 4 in Beaufort County to learn about embarking on a rewarding new career with the North Carolina Ferry Division.

The career fair, hosted by the Ferry Division, will be from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Bayview Ferry Terminal, 229 N.C. 306 North, Bath. Those coming to the career fair should drive with caution, as there may still be a few remaining icy spots on the roads.

The career event will be focused on finding temporary and seasonal employees for the upcoming summer season. Seasonal employees are a key part of the N.C. Ferry System’s service, and they are often given first consideration for permanent roles.

The N.C. Ferry System, which operates eight coastal ferry routes, offers positions working on the vessels, 13 terminals and at a shipyard in Manns Harbor.

At the event, applications will be accepted for temporary/seasonal employment at all experience levels, from general utility worker to experienced boat captains. Those seeking permanent employment are welcome to attend the event to learn more about open positions and how to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) or a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) for the application process. People with the Merchant Mariner Credential or TWIC are encouraged to bring their paperwork with them to the job fair.

Among the benefits of Ferry Division permanent employment are:

  • Competitive salaries
  • Year-round, full-time permanent employment
  • Health insurance
  • Retirement benefits
  • Paid vacation, holiday and sick leave
The event is the last of four job fairs held across eastern North Carolina. Others were held Jan. 14 in Morehead City, Jan. 21 in Hatteras and Jan. 28 in Southport.
