New Leland Temporary Driver License Office to Open Monday

ROCKY MOUNT –The mini-budget (House Bill 125), passed by the N.C. General Assembly and signed by Governor Josh Stein in August 2025, allows for the development of four additional N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ driver license offices.

As such, the Division will open the second of the four planned additional driver license offices on Feb. 9 in Leland (Brunswick County). Office hours will be Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., except on state holidays. The first driver license office included in the mini-budget opened in Garland in December.

The new office, at 25 Old River Rd., at the NCDOT Belville Bridge Yard, in Leland, will be inside a temporary modular unit while NCDMV continues to pursue a long-term permanent site based on existing service demand and continued population growth. The office will service walk-in customers only with appointment scheduling available beginning in March. Commercial driver license and motorcycle skills testing will not be provided.

Two additional offices are scheduled to open later this year in Fuquay-Varina in Wake County and a location to be determined in Cabarrus County.

NCDMV encourages customers to check office locations and hours at NCDMV.gov and to utilize online services for transactions such as license renewals, duplicates, and address changes to avoid in-person visits when possible.
