NCDMV to Open Temporary Driver License Office in Elizabeth City

ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is opening a temporary driver license office Feb. 11 in Elizabeth City to provide continued service to residents while the permanent office continues to undergo repairs that resulted from a recent winter storm.

The temporary office will be in Room 130 of the K.E. White Graduate Center on the campus of Elizabeth City State University at 1862 Edgewood Drive, and will be a full-service office, including road skills testing.

“This temporary solution allows us to maintain service in the area during the office closure,” said Commissioner Paul Tine. “Thanks to the staff at Elizabeth City State University for their partnership and dedication, and to both DMV and DIT staff for their hard work in establishing this temporary location so quickly.”

Operating hours for the temporary office will be Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., except on state holidays. The office will be closed on Tuesday, March 3 as the location will serve as a polling station for the primary election. The permanent Elizabeth City driver license office at 1164 U.S. 17 South is scheduled to reopen in March.

Many driver license services, including renewals and duplicates, are also available online at NCDMV.gov.
