CHARLOTTE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will be working this week on Interstate 485 to prepare to open new express lanes along the southern leg of the Outer Belt between Interstate 77 and U.S. 74.
Drivers should be aware of left-lane closures in both directions between Nations Ford Road and Interstate 77 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday as crews complete striping operations to and from the express lanes, one direction at a time.
Contract crews will also be installing delineator posts in the vicinity of the following bridges:
- I-77
- Westinghouse Boulevard
- NC 51 (Pineville-Matthews Road)
- The flyover bridge on the inner loop direct connector at Johnston Road
- Tilley Morris Road
- E. John Street
- Bridge over CSX Railroad
This work will require mobile lane closures in both directions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
