MEBANE – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will conduct overnight lane closures on Interstate 40/85 starting next week, weather permitting.
From March 2–6, multiple lanes in both directions of I-40/I-85 will be closed nightly at mile marker 152, near Trollingwood Hawfield Road. The lane closures will follow this pattern each night:
- 8 p.m.: Single-lane closure.
- 10 p.m.: Two-lane closure.
- Midnight: Full closure with a detour in place.
During the full closure, drivers in both directions will take Exit 152, continue straight across Trollingwood Hawfields Road and return to the interstate.
All lanes will reopen by 6 a.m. each morning.
The closures are necessary to allow construction crews to set beams for the new bridge on Trollingwood Hawfields Road over I-40/I-85.
Drivers should allow extra time for their commute and use caution when traveling in the work zone.
