MONROE – A section of Love Mill Road will temporarily close, allowing N.C. Department of Transportation bridge maintenance crews to safely remove a large drift pile underneath the bridge that takes the road over Rocky River.
The large debris pile was discovered during a recent inspection. Due to its size and location, a large excavator must be positioned on top of the bridge to safely remove it, requiring the bridge closure and subsequent traffic detour.
Officials will temporarily close the bridge March 16, 17, and 18 from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day to remove the debris pile. A detour will be in place for drivers from Love Mill Road to Rock Hole Road, N.C. 200 and N.C. 218, returning to Love Mill Road.
