LELAND – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will conduct daily lane closures on Interstate 140 between U.S. 17 and U.S. 74 over the next several weeks.
Beginning March 9, crews will resume construction to upgrade this six-mile section of I-140, a project that began last year. Improvements include milling and resurfacing, rumble strip installation, pavement marking installation, guardrail improvements and bridge rehabilitation on both the eastbound and westbound lanes.
One lane in each direction will remain open to accommodate through traffic for the duration of the closure. Work is expected to be complete, with the road reopened, by early May.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down, remain alert and consider alternate routes to avoid travel delays.
