RAEFORD – About 20 miles of roads in Hoke and Scotland counties will be refreshed, thanks to the N.C. Department of Transportation awarding a $3.8 million contract recently.
Fred Smith Co. will mill and resurface and place high-visibility thermoplastic lane markings on the following routes:
• Fayetteville Road (U.S. 401) between Royal Birkdale Drive and Pittman Grove Church Road in eastern Hoke County
• Gibson Road (N.C. 79) between Dunc Pate and Rockingham roads in western Scotland County
Additionally, sections of these secondary roads also will be repaved:
• Gainey Road and Rockfish Road in Hoke County
• Jane Shaw Road and Sneadtown Road in Scotland County
The Raleigh-based contractor can begin the work as soon as March 30, and will have until the fall of 2027 to complete the contract.
