HILLSBOROUGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close a lane on Interstate 85/40 starting this weekend to construct a permanent barrier wall and the foundations for overhead sign structures.
Beginning March 22, crews will close the left lane of I‑85 North/I-40 East between mile markers 160 and 162. This closure will be continuous, and the lane is scheduled to reopen by May 6.
During this closure, the left shoulder on I-85 South/I-40 West will also be closed between mile markers 160 and 162.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead as their commute may take longer than normal and use caution when traveling near the work zone.
