Durham County Intersection Will Be Reconstructed

DURHAM – N.C. Department of Transportation crews plan to convert the intersection of Carpenter-Fletcher Road and South Alston Avenue to an all-way stop this week.

Work will begin at 9:30 a.m. March 25, weather permitting, and completed by the end of the day.

The intersection is currently a three-way stop, with traffic on Carpenter Fletcher Road required to stop. Under the new configuration, all approaches to the intersection will be required to stop.

The change is being implemented in response to the crash history at the location.

Officials said the all-way stop is intended to improve safety and reduce the likelihood of future crashes. For more information about all-way stops visit this site.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution while traveling through the area and to be alert to the new traffic pattern and signage following the change.
