NCDOT to Resurface US 70, Secondary Roads in Iredell County

STATESVILLE – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will resurface several sections of roads throughout Iredell County over the next year. 

Maymead Inc., of Mountain City, Tennessee, earned the $6.9 million contract to resurface U.S. 70 between Nabors Road and the Rowan County line, along with 36 other sections of secondary roads. Some of those secondary roads include the following: 

  • Wiggins Road from N.C. 150 to N.C. 801
  • Lippard Farm Road from N.C. 90 to Island Ford Road
  • Dagenhart Farm Road from U.S. 70 to Mock Mill Road
  • Red Chimney Road from N.C. 115 to South Chipley Ford Road
  • Mackwood Road from N.C. 115 to the end of the maintained road
  • South Shady Rest Road from East Lewis Ferry Road to U.S. 70

Crews can begin resurfacing as early as March 30.

The contract restricts lane closures during rush hour or holidays. It calls for resurfacing to finish by fall 2027.
