MANNS HARBOR – As spring gets into full swing, the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Ferry System will be expanding seasonal schedules on four of its seven routes March 31, as planned.
The Hatteras-Ocracoke route will increase its daily departure schedule from 36 to 52, while the Swan Quarter-Ocracoke and Cedar Island-Ocracoke schedules will each move from four to six daily departures. Meanwhile, the Southport-Fort Fisher route will also move to its spring schedule, increasing daily departures on weekdays only from 28 to 32. The Southport-Fort Fisher weekend schedule will remain unchanged.
The new schedules, as of March 31, are as follows:
Hatteras-Ocracoke:
- From Hatteras: 5 a.m., 6 a.m., 7 a.m., 8 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m., 11 p.m., and midnight.
- From Ocracoke: 4:30 a.m., 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 9 p.m., 9:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m., and midnight.
Cedar Island-Ocracoke:
- From Cedar Island: 7:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m.
- From Ocracoke: 7:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 4:30 p.m.
Swan Quarter-Ocracoke:
- From Swan Quarter: 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m.
- From Ocracoke: 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 1:30 p.m.
Southport-Fort Fisher (Weekdays):
- From Southport: 5:30 a.m., 7 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 6:15 p.m.
- From Fort Fisher: 6:15 a.m., 7:45 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:15 p.m., 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3:15 p.m., 4 p.m., 4:45 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m.
The Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach, Bayview-Aurora and Currituck-Knotts Island routes will all remain on their year-round schedules.
