WINSTON-SALEM – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation plans to close a lane of Interstate 40 overnight next week as part of the ongoing Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.
Weather permitting, the left lane of I-40 East between High Point Road (near mile marker 197) and Union Cross Road (Exit 201) will close at 9 p.m. on April 6 and April 7 and is expected to reopen each morning by 5:00 a.m.
The lane closure is necessary to allow crews to remove the portable concrete barrier that is adjacent to the travel lane.
Motorists should allow extra time for travel and should use caution when traveling through the work zone.
